Savannah Gateway is known for possessing an available and abundant workforce thanks in large part to the diverse mix of college graduates and outgoing military personnel and their dependents, as well as the specialized training programs offered. In the four-county area, the civilian workforce totals over 200,000. There are numerous colleges and universities in the area offering degrees in everything from accounting and engineering to digital media and computer arts. Savannah Gateway is also home to Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. Each year approximately 4,200 highly skilled and disciplined soldiers transition out of the military and enter into the civilian labor pool. There are also close to 29,000 military dependents, many of whom are willing and able to work. Savannah Technical College provides a valuable workforce training solution by offering specialized certificates in manufacturing, warehousing & distribution, leadership, and customer service. In addition, Quick Start, the state of Georgia’s nationally recognized training program, provides high quality training services at no cost to qualifying new or expanding businesses.
